It’s great to meet you

My dad inspired my passion for fitness in two ways:

1.     He taught me how to lift weights when I was 12 years old. He had an old bench and concrete plates in the garage where we would bench press and do arm curls together while listening to rock and roll music.

2.     In 1997, he had a massive stroke that left him paralyzed on his left side and unable to perform basic life skills. That experience had a tremendous impact on me and reframed the way I approach fitness. I suddenly understood the importance of being able to do things like stand up off of a toilet seat without assistance later in life.

At the forefront of my practice with my clients is fitness in service of health and longevity. I pride myself in helping my clients move well to ensure that they are able to exercise consistently for the rest of their lives while also ensuring that they have fun doing it so that they want to do it for the rest of their lives.

With health and longevity at the foundation, the thing I show up to work for every day is to help people achieve their goals. I am no stranger fitness goals. Throughout my childhood, I played baseball and football, I trained and competed as an amateur bodybuilder for 15 years, and I have studied and competed in CrossFit for the last 10 years. I always have a new skill I am working on learning or improving for myself personally.

It doesn’t matter what your goals are. Every single one of my clients is different in terms of their priorities, life stage, and fitness level. I customize programming so that no two peoples’ training looks the same, and I keep track of their progress so that we can both ensure that we’re accomplishing what we’ve set out to achieve. Some of my best days at work are getting to tell my clients when they’ve hit a personal record, beat their old time, or reached their goal.

One of the ways I ensure that I can deliver for each of them is through ongoing education. Every year I obtain at least one new certification as a way of challenging myself and evolving with the industry. While I have experience that spans most domains, if there is something I don’t know, I’ll learn it in service of helping my clients.

The last thing you should probably know about me is that I don’t just preach this stuff, I live it. Even on days when I am not training my clients, you’ll find me in the gym trying to keep up with my wife, Ashley. When we’re not there, we’re home with our two rambunctious rescue pups, Hank and Hoagie, and my very talkative Bengal, Tuco; or out trying a new restaurant.

I look forward to meeting you, getting to know you, and helping you reach your goals in fitness and beyond.
